Section Policies
IJECBE Journal publishes original research papers, review articles, and case studies focusing on Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure the highest standards of quality and integrity.
1. Initial Screening: Upon submission, the editorial office first assesses each manuscript to ensure it aligns with the journal's focus and scope, adheres to the author guidelines, and demonstrates sufficient scientific novelty. Manuscripts must be original works and free from plagiarism. The editorial team utilizes plagiarism detection software to verify the originality of all submissions. The percentage of similarity allowed is below 20%.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for a formal blind peer review. Each submission is evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers in the field. The reviewers provide constructive feedback and detailed comments aimed at improving the manuscript's scientific rigor, clarity, and overall quality.
3. Editorial Decision and Publication: The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection is made by the Editor, based on the reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's overall contribution to the field. Following acceptance, the Editor-in-Chief determines the publication schedule.
Publication Frequency
The International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (IJECBE) is published quarterly, with a new issue released at the end of March, June, September, and December each year. Each calendar year corresponds to a single volume, consisting of these four issues. Submissions are welcomed and reviewed continuously to ensure accepted articles are published in the next available issue.
Open Access Policy
The International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (IJECBE) provides immediate and unrestricted open access to all its content. We believe that free access to research promotes wider collaboration and advances scientific progress.
To formalize this commitment, all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This means that all content is freely available without charge to users or their institutions. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, remix, transform, and build upon the articles for any purpose, provided that proper attribution is given to the original source and authors.
This approach ensures that authors' work receives the broadest possible dissemination while they retain full copyright.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs), submission fees, or any other charges for authors to publish in the International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (IJECBE). Publication is entirely free.
Plagiarism Screening Policy
At IJECBE, maintaining the originality and integrity of scholarly work is a top priority. Every manuscript submitted for publication undergoes a mandatory plagiarism screening process.
-
Screening Tool: We utilize Turnitin to perform a comprehensive similarity check on all submissions against a vast database of academic and online sources.
-
Acceptance Threshold: A manuscript will only be advanced to the peer-review stage if its similarity score is below 20%. This check helps identify any potential instances of uncredited textual overlap.
-
Review of Results: Manuscripts with a similarity index of 20% or higher will be flagged for editorial review. The editors will assess the similarity report to distinguish between legitimate overlap (e.g., properly cited quotes, bibliographic entries, standard methodology descriptions) and potential plagiarism. Based on this assessment, the manuscript may be:
-
Returned to the authors for necessary revisions.
-
Rejected outright if significant unattributed content is found.
-
Authors bear the full responsibility for the originality of their work and are advised to pre-screen their manuscripts before submission.
Crossmark Service
The International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (IJECBE) is a participant in Crossmark. This service ensures that readers always have access to the most current and reliable version of our published articles. We are committed to maintaining the scholarly record and use Crossmark to flag any updates, corrections, or retractions to our content.
References Management
Every article submitted to IJECBE shall use reference management software e.g. EndNoteĀ® or Mendeley.
General Data Protection Regulation
IJECBE Journal expresses a full commitment for GDPR and takes full responsibility to protecting the privacy of its editors, authors, reviewers, volunteers, and other contacts.
AI Use in Submissions
The International Journal of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (IJECBE) recognizes the value of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in modern academic research and writing. To ensure transparency, originality, and the highest standards of academic integrity, the journal has established the following policy for all authors.
1. Permissible Uses of AI Tools
Authors may use AI and AI-assisted technologies to improve the quality of their manuscripts. Permissible uses include, but are not limited to:
-
Language Enhancement: Improving grammar, spelling, phrasing, and overall readability.
-
Literature Search: Assisting in identifying relevant literature and summarizing findings.
-
Structural Refinement: Checking for clarity, refining the manuscript's structure, and ensuring logical flow.
2. Authorship and Accountability
The responsibility for the scientific integrity of a manuscript rests entirely with its human authors.
-
AI Cannot Be an Author: AI tools and large language models (LLMs) cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship is reserved for individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and can be held accountable for the work's content and integrity.
-
Authors Are Fully Responsible: The authors are solely responsible and accountable for all content within their manuscript, including any text, figures, or data generated or modified by an AI tool. Authors must meticulously review, edit, and fact-check all AI-generated content to ensure its accuracy, originality, and proper citation. The use of AI does not absolve authors of their responsibility to avoid plagiarism and other breaches of publication ethics.
3. Mandatory Disclosure and Transparency
Transparency is crucial for maintaining trust in the scholarly record.
-
Disclosure is Required: Authors must disclose the use of any generative AI or AI-assisted technology in the preparation of their manuscript.
-
Where to Disclose: This disclosure must be included in the Acknowledgements section or in a separate declaration at the end of the manuscript before the references.
-
What to Disclose: The statement should specify the name and version of the AI tool used (e.g., ChatGPT 4.0, Google Gemini) and briefly explain the purpose for which it was used (e.g., language editing, figure creation, literature review).
Example Disclosure Statement:
"The author(s) acknowledge the use of OpenAI's ChatGPT (Version 4.0) for assistance with language editing and improving the readability of this manuscript. After using the tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take full responsibility for the final content of the publication."
4. Integrity of Data and Figures
-
Authors must ensure that any images, charts, or data generated by AI are accurate, appropriate, and correctly labeled.
-
The use of AI to create or alter figures must not obscure, misrepresent, or falsify any research data or experimental results. The use of such tools for figure generation must also be disclosed.
